Returning Cane to the Land of Cane and Clover

Canebrakes are a threatened ecosystem that have become rare in most of their former range due to centuries of agriculture, land subdivision, and development.

Our time tested methods for transplanting giant River Cane clones have proved successful to Kentuckiana clients since 2010.

Through nearly 15 years of monitoring our parent river Cane stock for blooming, and dozens of canebrakes across four counties, we are able to provide a measure of safety against large plantings blooming simultaneously, which would create management complications.

Irregular Cane blooms, still not fully understood by science can occur as often as 40-50 year intervals, and may involve blooming of select individuals or entire canebrakes, typically followed by plant death, and return from seeds.
